FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE IS FOR YOUR BABY”
September is heralded as Baby Safety Month, but Sharon Abendschoen of
York, Pennsylvania, thinks every day should be committed to baby
safety. Blessed with two beautiful granddaughters and a third
grandchild on the way, “Granna Sharon” is continually inspired to keep
all babies as safe as possible.
The marketplace holds a cornucopia of products designed to keep our
babies safe. Now Abendschoen brings a new and unique baby product
virtually tantamount to all others. While manufacturers have been
busy designing and marketing the infant carrier/car seat combination
over the past decade, Abendschoen has been working tirelessly to bring
her See Shell Baby Carrier to the marketplace.
Unlike the popular carrier/car seat combinations, the See Shell is not
designed to be a car seat. The main purpose of the See Shell Baby
Carrier is solely baby safety. Lightweight and user-friendly,
this baby carrier sports a handle made from strong, yet lightweight,
metal alloy, instead of the all-plastic ones seen in the car seat
carriers currently on the market. Abendschoen leaves nothing to
chance. “Every handle in the country is plastic connected with
plastic hinges. The See Shell handle has a steel hinge. I
feel confident with the baby in the See Shell Baby Carrier that the
handle will not break off.” For added uniqueness, the
five-position handlebar locks into place.
Abendschoen has poured thousands of dollars and thousands of hours into
the product development and promotion of the See Shell Baby
Carrier. Her resolve to baby safety, however, far exceeds any
dollar and time amount she has dedicated to her invention’s genesis.
While the big manufacturers continue to push their travel “systems” for
babies (which include the car seat/carrier combinations), they convince
parents of the convenience of their products. Abendschoen does
not see “convenience” as more desirable than safety. “Why do we
think that ‘convenience’ should take the place of ensuring our babies’
safety? Why not keep the car seat separate and apart from the
carrier function and use a carrier that is DEVOTED to just that?” she
explains. A tragic consequence of the convenience marketing
strategy, hundreds of babies have been injured, and some even killed,
as a result from some of the carrier portions of these “systems”
becoming dislodged in collisions, causing the babies to essentially
“catapult” out of the car seat base. Further, the hollow,
injection molded handles tend to develop hairline “cracks’ from
repeated exposure to the UV rays of the sun during normal use, and
these handles can suddenly break apart while people are carrying their
babies about. This can sadly result in head trauma and severe
injuries which otherwise could be prevented by use of the See Shell
The See Shell Baby Carrier easily combines, form, function, and
fun. While fanciful toys dangle from the See Shell’s handlebar to
delight its little travelers, it also acts as a protective roll bar in
the unlikely event the baby excitedly upsets and turns over the See
Shell while in use. The handle is also covered with a comfortable
¼ inch thick polyfoam sleeve for ease of carrying, thus greatly
reducing the strain on your arms and back. The three-point seat
belt secures the baby in place. Reversible seat pads, visors, and
neck collars complete the look.
Abendschoen takes every aspect of her product seriously. On
September 17, 2002, the See Shell Baby Carrier passed the Handle
Integrity Test and other important portions of the latest ASTM Spec.
F2050.01 for Hand Held Baby Carriers. This test was conducted by
an independent testing lab: ACTS Testing Labs of Buffalo,
NY. See Shell Baby Products LLC is now confident it can deliver
the most TRULY safe infant carrier/feeding seat available today.
